Albert Square Christmas Markets

Make way for mulled wine Manchester – the Christmas Markets are finally open! Our city is awash with wooden stalls and festive lights, as the markets are now here to spread Christmas cheer for forty-eight glorious days. It will literally be Christmas, every day. There’s no need to wish anymore, Wizzard!

Where Will You Find The Christmas Markets?

There are ten areas spread across the city, which is sure to make Manchester a winter wonderland wherever you turn. We’re only missing the snow (but fingers crossed!). Albert Square is the heart of all the action, which is perfect for us as it’s right next to our offices. Not so perfect for our waistlines, perhaps? But getting fat is what Christmas is all about, isn’t it?!

Cathedral Gardens hosts an ice rink and a fun fair, making it popular for families, friends and lovebirds. And Market Street will be buzzing with bells, holly and a whole host of punters, looking to eat, drink and buy trinkets from the jolly stalls. Spinningfields will put a more artisan twist on the markets. There will be creative bakers, amazing designers and quirky collectors offering a more ‘alternative’ Christmas.

What’s New At The Christmas Markets?

We’re excited to see the new design of the festive mugs this year, as I bet the rest of Manchester is too! Customers will need to leave a £2.50 deposit with every hot drink, and the deposit is returned when bringing the mug back. Alternatively, you can keep the mug as a souvenir! Cheap, right?! Hence why most of our cupboards at home have become festive mug shrines!

A new addition to the festivities this year is “Buzzin”. “Buzzin” is an app launched today which will make the markets interactive through your iPhone. Swarms of customers will be pointing their cameras around, as the app will cause virtual reality to mingle with the market buzz.
Christmas characters will pop up on screen as you venture around the stalls. It’s like Pokemon GO for the Christmas Markets! We didn’t think they could get any better!

Look out for our festive photos over the coming weeks. We can smell the mince pies all the way from here…
