Let’s give you a lowdown on what’s happening, MCR! We’re nearly a whole week into December and the city is brimming with merriment, like a healthily measured mug of mulled G&T.

The weekend was awash with work Christmas parties, with plenty of dodgy Christmas jumpers and worse-for-wear walking on-show. There was not a Grinch in sight and the only thing missing was the snow!

There’s plenty more Christmas excitement to get stuck into this week! Here’s a rundown of our favourite picks.

The Northern Quarter Makers Market!

First of all, we have The Northern Quarter Makers Market! Popping up on Sunday, the NQMM will be Mecca for those who have a penchant for anything quirky.

They are essentially a showcase of MCR’s coolest artists, designers, bakers and cooks, with each vendor selling something truly unique.

Among the markets are Daddy Cool’s Chilli Sauce, who sell their own spicy sauces and chilli peppers. Manchester Doughnut Co will be providing the sugary goodness and CJ Taylor Art will be flogging his seriously cool splatter art.

However, The Greyhound Gap are our favourites! This amazing organisation rescue, rehabilitate and finally rehouse Greyhounds who otherwise would be put-to-sleep.

Their work is incredible and we recommend all you dog lovers pay them a visit and show your support!

Merry Cribsmas, MCR!

“Hey Scenesters” – it’s Cribsmas! Indie band The Cribs are playing a massive FOUR nights at Gorilla from Friday through to Monday, continuing their Cribsmas tradition of playing a tour of the UK’s best music venues.

The Wakefield band are an iconic staple of noughties indie music and their live shows are a raucous riot. Consequently, proceedings are due to get very lively so “be safe”!

Harry Potter and the Live Orchestra!

Hop on your Nimbus 3000 and don’t forget to pack your wand! Manchester Arena will become engrossed in magic this Friday, as the Chamber of Secrets will be screened and accompanied by a live orchestra playing the score!

While there are fighting trees, giant spiders and, most noteworthy, a “TROLL IN THE DUNGEON”, the second instalment of the Harry Potter franchise is easily the most Christmassy film of the series! It’s the perfect escape for anybody who needs a bit of Xmas excitement.

Christopher is the “key” for an amazing Christmas Party!

Life may have changed forever for Christopher Scamp, as his mini-concert outside of Deansgate’s Forsyth Music Shop has become a viral sensation. His piano performance outside of Deansgate’s Forsyth Music Shop has made him an overnight sensation.

He segued between covers of Hacienda club classics, Rock and Roll sing-a-longs and even finished up with the vintage Nokia ringtone to rapturous laughter.

Reports have stated that people have already requested him to play in Cuba and Las Vegas at their parties. The powers of social media! Not managed to book an act for your Christmas party? Seems like we’ve found you the perfect party starter in Christopher!
